Pradhan  Mantri gram sadak yojana was started in 2000, to provide connectivity in rural area. This grant in aid has been sanctioned for maintainance of roads . This scheme comes under union ministry of rural development.

Shimla

State govt is mulling to establish 2 dopplar radar at kinnaur and lahaul spiti, tribal belt of himachal Pradesh. First dopplar weather radar was established in Shimla and two were established at  jot chamba and murari devi Mandi. Dopplar weather radar give us timely forecast of weather. It will  help farmers for their crops and also will help in disaster management.It will help in predicting intensition, location, severity of precipitation.

HP govt is collaborating with central govt  for the cultivation of lavender under Aroma mission. Under this aroma mission cultivation of wild marigold also been done successfully.

It is benefitting farmers of jammu Kashmir area . Modern scientific methods will be used for this.

Kangra tea got European GI tag recently. Indian GI tag was given to Kangra Tea in 2005. GI tag or Geographical indication tag is given to a unique product of a particular area. After is this product is recognized nationally. Same in case of European GI tag, now Kangra tea will get recognition in Europe as well.

Tea production in india was 17 lakh kg per annum now it is 8 lakh kg per annum.

Initially tea production was done under 4 lakh hectare, but now it is done under 2 lakh hectare.

This is due to low yield and lack of initiative.

ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में कनेक्टिविटी प्रदान करने के लिए प्रधान मंत्री ग्राम सड़क योजना 2000 में शुरू की गई थी। यह सहायता अनुदान सड़कों के रखरखाव के लिए स्वीकृत किया गया है। यह योजना केंद्रीय ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय के अंतर्गत आती है।

राज्य सरकार हिमाचल प्रदेश के आदिवासी बेल्ट किन्नौर और लाहौल स्पीति में 2 डॉपलर रडार स्थापित करने पर विचार कर रही है। पहला डॉप्लर मौसम रडार शिमला में स्थापित किया गया था और दो जोत चंबा और मुरारी देवी मंडी में स्थापित किए गए थे। डॉपलर मौसम रडार हमें मौसम का समय पर पूर्वानुमान देता है। यह किसानों को उनकी फसलों के लिए मदद करेगा और आपदा प्रबंधन में भी मदद करेगा। यह तीव्रता, स्थान, वर्षा की गंभीरता की भविष्यवाणी करने में मदद करेगा।

  1. हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार ………… के साथ सहयोग कर रही है। लैवेंडर की खेती के लिए।

एचपी सरकार अरोमा मिशन के तहत लैवेंडर की खेती के लिए केंद्र सरकार के साथ सहयोग कर रही है। इस सुगंध मिशन के तहत जंगली गेंदे की खेती भी सफलतापूर्वक की गई है।

इसका लाभ जम्मू कश्मीर क्षेत्र के किसानों को मिल रहा है। इसके लिए आधुनिक वैज्ञानिक तरीकों का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा।

कांगड़ा चाय को हाल ही में यूरोपीय जीआई टैग मिला है। भारतीय जीआई टैग कांगड़ा चाय को 2005 में दिया गया था। जीआई टैग या भौगोलिक संकेत टैग किसी विशेष क्षेत्र के एक अद्वितीय उत्पाद को दिया जाता है। के बाद इस उत्पाद को राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मान्यता प्राप्त है। वहीं, यूरोपियन जीआई टैग के मामले में अब कांगड़ा चाय को यूरोप में भी पहचान मिलेगी।

भारत में चाय का उत्पादन 17 लाख किलोग्राम प्रति वर्ष था जो अब 8 लाख किलोग्राम प्रति वर्ष हो गया है।

शुरुआत में चाय का उत्पादन 4 लाख हेक्टेयर के तहत किया जाता था, लेकिन अब यह 2 लाख हेक्टेयर के तहत किया जाता है।

यह कम उपज और पहल की कमी के कारण है।

IIT मंडी के सहायक प्रोफेसर को हाल ही में IISC बैंगलोर में युवा इंजीनियर के रूप में सतीश धवन पुरस्कार मिला। इंजीनियरिंग में उनके उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए उन्हें 1 लाख रुपये और प्रशस्ति पत्र मिला। यह उन लोगों को दिया जाता है जो 50 वर्ष से कम आयु के हैं और इंजीनियरिंग विज्ञान में उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन किया है।

–  It is celebrated to honour queen Sunaiyana popularly known as Rani Suhi.

–  Congregation in April every year.

– Only women and children can attend the fair.

– People honour Rani for Sacrifice of Rani Sunaiyana for water crisis in chamba.

  1. Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana

– Educational loan to underprivileged students at the rate of 1 % ,through financial institutions or bank

– Families having income of less than 3 lakh per annum.

Objective –  Ensure that no poor child in the state is deprived of higher and professional education for want of finanancial resources.

  • Subsidy of 25,000 will be provided to 20,000 meritorious girl students , above 18 years of age to purchase electric scooties.
  • Encourahe girl student to achieve higher education , also H.P as green state.
  1. European GI tag boost for Kangra tea

– Geographical indicator or GI tag is a sign on the products with a specific geographic origin.

– Indian GI tag in 2005, European GI tag in 2023.

– GI tag are issued as per the Geographical indications of goods (Registration and protection ) act 1999.

– The tag is issued by the Geographical indication registry under the department of industry promotion and internal trade , union ministry of commerce and industry.

– in 1998, 17 lakh kg per annum was recorded.

– 8 lakh kg , per annum in current

– Average yield is 230 kg per hectare against the national average of 18,00 kg

– 1 % of the total 90 million kg tea produced in the country.

– Black and green varieties, in area gopalpur, baijnath , nagrota and bir in kangra district.

– Major sale center for Kangra tea is Kolkata.

– Initially it was J&K which is replaced by Assam tea. Kolkata adds transportation cost and causes a dent in profits.

Why there is low produce?

(a) lack of initiative and low yield,

(b)Most of tea plantations in Himachal are more than 100 years old .

– Tea board of india had launched a scheme under which 25 per cent of subsidy was given to replantation., but no one applied.

(c ) Most have small landholdings and the cost of replanting is quite high . Only 2 percent have have large landholdings

(d) small and scattered holdings , absentee planters , abandoned gardens , non availability of skilled labour and tea auction center.

– Tea was introduced in Kangra in 1849 by british after the anglo sikh war.

– Dr Jameson , then superintendent of botanical tea gardens , identifies the region for tea cultivation .

  1. Bhuri singh Museum : repository of chamba art culture

– One of the oldest museums in india.

– Established on September 14, 1908 .

– Raja Bhuri singh ruler of chamba from 1904 to 1908 , donated family portraits and many royal objects of archaeological importance to the Mueseum .

– Museum has over 65,00 items on display that reflect the rich heritage , folk art and culture of chamba.

– Include ancient inscriptions , copper plates and manuscripts in sharda, tankri , bhoti, Gurumukhi and Persian scripts.

– Museum was established in 1908 by the then director general of Archaelogical survey of india Vogel.

  1. Shinku La Tunnel construction to begin by July

4.1 Km long Shinku la tunnel on the Nimmu Padum Darcha road , cost 1,681 crore., beneath the 16,580 ft high Shinku La in Lahaul and spiti district.

– World’s highest road tunnel

– It will provide the Indian military access to the border areas of Ladakh from the Himachal side. Only one route access  the border areas of ladakh via the Manali leh highway and Baralacha la. During winters the Manali leh highway remains closed for vehicular movement due to heavy snowfall near Baralacha la.

– The completion of this project will improve the financial conditions of zanskar valley residents by giving impetus to tourism.

– All weather connectivity to the Zansar valley residents between Manali and Leh .

  1. Illegal mining in Garni Khad

Garni Khad is tributary of Swan river.

  • A petition in 2017 suggests that over extraction of sand and gravel has dried up old fresh water wells along with the govt dug ponds.
  • A decline in the Garni’s water level due to deployment of stone crushers and the extraction of minerals has destroyed the agricultural ecosystem that was keeping all biological life in good health.
  • Illegal mining have caused suffering in the Up-mahal dhandri, up-mahal shivnagar , and Takrala villages of Una’s Amb tehsil.

– According to economic survey report of himachal Pradesh for 2022-23 , the mountains of Himachal Pradesh seem to be fast losing their charm for foreign tourists for over decade now.

– initially about 5 lakh foreigners visited the state , the number dropped to mere 29,000 in 2022.

– in 2021, only 5,000 tourists visited the hill state.

– in 2022 major jump of around 167 % in the arrival of domestic visitors in 2022.

  1. Mobile veterinary services ‘sanjeevani to be launched in Himachal Pradesh for livestock care.

– HP Govt is going to start a new project ‘sanjeevani’ to ensure that livestock is provided quality treatment in a time bound manner.

– Doorstep veterinary services will have curative treatment , vaccination , artificial insemination , preventive care and all animal husbandry related information.

– Uniqueness lies in its ability to connect the doctor and the farmer through a mobile app.

–  it will also track the efficiency of service delivery , medicines prescribed , and livestock diseases related data in one platform.

– The animal husbandry department has signed MOU with Bharat financial inclusion limited a subsidiary of indusInd bank , for the “sanjeevani” project.

– The collaboration under national animal disease control programme – Mobile veterinary van (NADCP-AHD-MVU) will enhance the doorstep delivery of livestock care , making all the veterinary services to farmers one call away

– This platform will provide personalized assistance to the livestock farmers / owners on various aspects such as telemedical consultation , information about govt schemes, programmes especially livestock health and disease control programme,grievance redressal , query resolution.

  1. Shift proposed Mandi airport to Hamirpur district suggests new SIA

-International airport proposed in nagchala,balh valley mandi over an area 232 hectares and aimed at boosting the regional economy.

– New social impact assessment report has said that an alternative location could be considered.

– SR Asia a consultant company , which conducted public hearing in the affected villages , submitted its report to the hp govt.

– As the land is fertile so construction of an airport will greatly impact cash crop production in the area.

– Jahu which is central to to the three districts is ideal, have barren land and people are ready to give land there.

(12) 6000 adopted as ‘children of state ‘ under sukhashrya bill

-HP govt assembly passed the himachal Pradesh sukhashray ( care protection and self reliance of children ) bill, 2023.

– bill will make destitute children the responsibility of state govt

– up 27 years of age, food shelter , proper care and protection to orphans , semi orphans and specially abled children, along with higher education , vocational training , skill development and coaching facilities.

– 272.27 crore annually

– 4000 pocket money, 3 biswa land and money to build house.

(13) Himachal Pradesh 3rd in number of colleges per lakh population

All india survey of higher education 2020-21, the hill state of himachal Pradesh has one of the highest number of colleges per lakh population in the country.

  • For evevry one lakh population in the age group of 18-23 ,there are 50 colleges. HP is placed with kerala.

1) A First : AI based herd management system installed

Allflex, a herd monitoring system was installed by CSK HP  agriculture university palampur for the first time.

  • This can be put as neck bands on cattles . It is equipped with sensors that transmits signals on real time basis about the health , rumination and reproduction status of the cow.
  • Sensors monitor the rumination, activity  and health status of the animal and transmit it to an artificial intelligence based software which interprets the signal on real time basis.
  • The system analyses these inputs and gives regular update to farm manager.

2) First Indian climber to have climbed four 8000 meter peaks in a single season – Baljeet Kaur

– Went missing from mount Annapurna , tenth highest mountain in the world.

3) Himachal Pradesh First state to create a DNA database of unidentified bodies .

– records of 150 DNA samples of unidentified bodies had been stored in the database.

– would help in identifying the bodies

– criminal investigation of heinous crimes , identification of disaster victims, missing persons and repeat offenders.

– The directorate of forensics services ,Junga had procured DNA profile databasing and matching technology from the US at a cost of 55 lakh last year and a database was being prepared.

– capacity of 20,000 DNA profile

– More than 100 bodies are recovered in different parts of the state every year and these remain unidentified.

4 )  Himachal Pradesh to roll out e office from july

HP govt has decided to roll out e office to bring transparency and efficiency in the working of govt departments.

  • Intends to introduce an e –office system in all 109 branches of himachal Pradesh secretariat , all 70 directorates, all 12 deputy commissioner offices, all superintendent of police offices and other field offices.
  • This system will facilitate in maintaining records and communication leading to faster and more effective process in decision making.

5) After spices Himachal all set for commercial cultivation of roses.

– We import around 2 tons of rose oil worth 200 crore each year

–  Emphasis should be laid on the rose oil production in india , as Himalayan region has potential for quality rose production.

– India imports 8,047 tons of licorice from Afganistan, china, and Nepal.

–  22 tons of saffron worth Rs 184 crore  from iran, spain and Afganistan. v

– Justice M S Ramchandra has been appointed as the chief justice of the high court of himachal Pradesh .

7)  Which technology to be adopted for the ropeway project in shimla starting from Taradevi ?

To decongest shimla city a ropeway project is being built .

New development bank for funding

Total cost – 1,546 crore

14.69 km long ,

Austrian ropeway technology will  be adopted for the project.

80 % funding will be provided by the centre and 20 % by the state.
